English words don't end with j. Use -dge or -ge if you hear the j sound at the end of a word.

However, they might feel overwhelmed by words and sentences on the book pages. There are also some children who are not attracted to the books preselected for them. Sitting down to go through an entire book could be much less fun than other activities in the home. Here are some tips to help children feel closer to books: 1) Freedom of Book Choice Let the children choose the books during free reading time. Bring them to the library. If you are at home, as parents don't be too quick to pull books for the children. Let the children choose a few first. 2) Allow Repetition Allow repetition of books. Children feel a sense of familiarity and security when they can read the same books over and over again. Introduce new books one by one to the child's collection. 3) Focus on the Plot Don't force the child to keep using phonics to decode and read aloud, even if the child is already doing well during phonics lessons. Let the child enjoy storytime naturally. To let the children apply their phonics knowledge, parents can start with the title, and keywords in the story. Children need to build the stamina to read aloud. We can imagine how annoyed they might feel when the story doesn't progress and they are stuck trying to figure out words and sounds. #nursery #kindergarten #stayhome #phonics #reading #getitrightsg #singapore #covid19 #resources #parents #wfh #workfromhome #hbl #homebasedlearning #parenting #teaching #educator #education #caregivers #workshops #zoom #webinar #primary #school #p1 #foundation #english #math #MotivationMondays
Easy #tips for Everyone How do we practise #phonics and #comprehension skills at the same time? Put them in the choices available! For the early learners, this would be a little challenging but definitely can be solved with some phonics knowledge. They can also understand the bit of humour when they realise what the third option is. (We are not in the world of Beauty and the Beast 😉:) #nursery #kindergarten #stayhome #phonics #reading #getitrightsg #singapore #covid19 #resources #parents #wfh #workfromhome #hbl #homebasedlearning #parenting #teaching #educator #education #caregivers #workshops #zoom #webinar #primary #school #p1 #foundation #english #math |
